Day 0: Life 1

TW: grooming, death (not in great detail but characters die), angst

Your first life had become a shitshow that was kicked off by a car crash. The car crash killed your mother and injured you. However, it also lead to a mess when your father was asked to donate blood.

You see, your parents had a drunk threesome with Bruce Wayne, and turned out you were bruises biological child. This led to being shipped off to live with him.

You try not to think about how your father, the man who raised you, didn’t fight for custody. You try not to think about how he didn’t even speak to you after the funeral and how no matter how many times you called, he never picked up.

Bruce didn’t raise you. You were 13 when your mother died and you knew from the beginning that he did not want you around. He mostly had his butler Alfred look after you, even picking you up from the airport when you first arrived. Your impression of him was that he was closed off with everyone.(that was only partially true. He was closed off, but he was a lot more open with the people he considered his kids.)

None of your siblings tried or even thought about having a relationship with you. You tried reaching out, desperate in your grief for some sort of connection, but they weren’t there. They were like ghosts watching you, drown in a sea of loneliness and grief.

You didn’t chase after them. Your mother had taught you better than to beg for love.

You search for validation in school, but you would never be the popular type. Besides, moving to Gotham, had put you at a disadvantage as you were surrounded by children who had grown up together, most of which were rich kids raised rich. You felt utterly alone, and it was very hard, not to sink into the depression that you could feel at the back of your mind. The only kindness came from your math, teacher, Mr. Jamison, who would let you sit in his classroom during lunch and was always willing to listen to you.

It wasn’t until years later that you’d understand he was grooming you. He never got far, since he died in a scarecrow attack two years after you arrived, but as you got older, you recognized how odd it was for a teacher to be that touchy or How weird it was for a teacher to offer for student to stay at their house

You left home at 17 with the suitcase that you had had at 13 when you arrived and a positive pregnancy test that you took after a one night stand. Alfred was the only one who said goodbye to you.

Out of all of the people in that house, Alfred was one of the only people you could forgive. He tried at least. You recognized that.

After you moved, you got into magic, which eventually led to your patron, a goddess whose name was lost to time who had been trapped for centuries in a statue, you found at an old Wayne property that hadn’t been visited in decades. Your patron taught you to harvest the magic that was already in you, giving you a feeling of being alive that you’ve never truly experienced before.

You had two beautiful months with your twins and your patron. Two months of bliss and happiness and feeling truly loved for the first time in a long time.

Two months of true joy until the day your son was killed during a battle between the justice league and a sorcerer

Your patron had taught you about magic and how your type of magic could call on other pees and tell your emotions amplified your magic. You would only realize too late that the magic user had its own patron, a being of insanity and chaos that saw your grief and tried to funnel magic into you to cause problems. They didn’t realize the madness that they had given to the sorcerer would funnel into you (then again, you had never been the most stable)

You became like a supernova, destroying the world with your grief. You took over the world and coded it in blood with only your rage as a guide. Most of the world was rubble by the time you started to calm down, but the madness in your mind and in your heart never ended.

You spent almost 18 years ruling over the world in your hatred and madness. The survivors who you did not take as yours formed or rebellion that you often sent your servants to fight. You preferred to look for ways to bring back your son or to spend time making sure your daughter was safe. You wanted to shield her from all of the monsters outside. (Shield her from the monster you became)

She did know, though. She knew about the madness that consumed you and the atrocities that you had done. She saw the flickers behind your eyes, the constant fear in your gaze. She saw your pain. She never saw you as a monster, always seen you as her mother, but she knew you were not Good for the rest of the world. You were a good mother, but you were not a good person

You never realized her friendship with the rebellion. You never heard about how she would sneak down to the dungeons where your servants kept rebels. You didn’t know about her friendship with Bart Allen. Didn’t know about how she confided in him about your tragedy, even if her version of events was distorted. Your daughter never truly knew everything that happened to you. She didn’t know anything about her father. (a one night stand that had been more of an act to reclaim your power and independence than it had been about any real desire or love.) she didn’t know how her brother had died, only that it had been sudden and that the justice league had been involved (She knew your grudge against them for her brothers death. She just didn’t know that her brother had been collateral damage.)

Your daughter died during one of the only fights against the rebellion that you ever joined in. She died from a ricocheted bullet bleeding out in your arms as you tried desperately to help her. Your magic ran wild, energy swirling in the air. (Unknowingly fueling the Time Machine the rebels built to send Bart back)

You didn’t feel the tug on your magic as the machine activated, but you did feel when your madness was ripped from you, and you could finally see everything you had done with clear eyes. You screamed and grief and pain, unaware of the red haired boy with tears in his eyes watching you before he turned and ran through the portal the machine made. You were unaware of the machine, getting ready to explode, but your patron, who had become so weak after spending so long tugging at your madness, gathered the last of her magic and attached your soul to the machine.

You felt a light kiss on your forehead and a whisper of “Stay safe my priestess. Find peace and happiness in this new life.” Before the world shattered and everything went white.

You wake up abruptly, your skin against cold linoleum and itchy fabric that you remembered oh so well pressed tightly against your skin. Your eyelids fluttered open, and you see a dead man’s face looking down at you with concern.

“Are you alright, sweetheart?” Mr. Jamison asked, his unshaven face looking the same as when you were fourteen.

DC XDP prompt

OK, I made a similar prompt to this one for dead on Main earlier, but I want to slightly change it up

Demon twins AU where Danny was sent to the Fenton by Talia, so that Ra’s could not kill him. He and Damian both believed the other two be dead until about age 16, when they meet due to the justice league summoning Danny.

They did the whole reconciliation thing, but the world ended up going into chaos. The GIW destroyed part of the portal, damaging Danny’s grave, and causing him to go into something similar to shock, severely weakening his powers. The league of assassins also made a mess of things, and now Danny and Damian are the only members of the family who are still able to fight. Damian has just sustained a massive injury on his side, and Danny is getting sick the longer he goes without good ectoplasm, becoming almost feral.

Clockwork offers them a deal to go back, but their bodies will carry over all injuries, including Danny being half dead. They will also have to destroy the Lazarus pits, (in this AU, the pits are a natural portal that was forcibly anchored, making it very toxic ectoplasm, similar to mold and poison.) 

They accept, and Danny and Damian wake up. Danny wakes up alone in his room at 10 years old, and Damian wakes up in his bedroom first tonight he ever spent with the Wayne’s.

The problem, is that Jazz finds her brother crying in his bedroom, with lots of scars, and his eyes glowing green. She is trying to calm her adoptive brother down as he cries in her arms, but she can hear her parents downstairs talking about the portal flickering, and has a sinking feeling in her chest.

In Manor, Alfred has gone to wake up the new master Damian, only to find him staring out the window as he bandages an injury on his side that seems to have not been treated before. The angry boy from last night seems to be gone, and his place is a scared child, one who immediately goes into a defensive position when he notices someone entering, before calming when seeing it was only him.

Thinking back about Percabeth travel through Tartarus made me more sad about the fact that we will never know about Nico's first travel.

Idk if in TOA or TSATS he talks about it to Will or someone else,but I really wish we could know more about it. The only things we know are the following:

He went alone,so no Bob with him that could have helped him like Annabeth and Percy,at the start of SoN;

His meeting with Akhlys,where she straight up told him he was perfect in his misery and she couldn't make him more miserable than that;

He saw Tartarus for what it really was all the way in,and almost went insane for that;

He got captured when he got to the door by Gaia's army and then was bought for a bit in his father temple,before putting him in a jar in Rome.

And apparently Nyx is obsessed with him and his darkness,and like Akhlys,she think Nico can't change and he's perfect in his darkness. And this is something that's only talked about in TSATS,unlike the others,so it's a pretty "new" information. But that's it,we don't know anything else and this will be probably one of my greatest regret.

Did Nico hesitated to jump because he realized something was wrong and could see the real Tartarus? Did he already knew about this "privilege" of his,since Tartarus is in his father's domain? Did he ask Bob for information before jumping? Did he research or knew about the gods down there that could have helped him? And if he didn't,how did he knew about Akhlys's dead mist? How did he met her since Bob didn't bought him to her? Did she gave him the mist without trying to kill him like she did with Annabeth and Percy,because she liked his misery,or Nico had to endure a near-death experience? Did he also met Nyx? If he did,did he went though her house like Percy and Annabeth? Since he is immune to the mist in Tartarus,can he also see beyond the darkness of Nyx's house? Did he met other gods or primordial? Did Tartarus watched his travel but didn't interfered,like he did with Percy,because he knew Gaia's plan? And if he did interfered? Did Thanatos helped him (he is one of Nyx children so he can go in Tartarus without a problem) since he technically work for his dad? Did he felt being followed by monsters and,without knowing it,by also Gaia's army? Did he met old enemies like Percy and Annabeth? Did his title as ghost king made things more complicated in case there were vendicative spirit around? Did the fact that he was Hades'son/the prince of that place gave him more downside? Was his travel more easier than theirs since the monsters knew about Gaia's trap for him,so they didn't interfered and let it unfold once Nico got to the doors? How did Nico felt knowing he was walking and seeing Tartarus body? Did Hades know what he was planning to do or was too busy with his split personality to understand what was happening? Did he cared? How did Nico felt once he got to the doors and got kidnapped? Persephone gave him the seeds,so she probably had an idea of the dangers he was going to face,how did she felt about that? Did Nico thought that Persephone cared about him? Did he thought of his dad too? Did his powers snapped too down there,like Percy's did? Did he felt the change or only realized later on when he turned Bryce into a ghost? Did he felt getting weaker by the moment or Tartarus didn't had the same effect to him? How Nico felt once he was out of Tartarus,in Gaia's hands,and was bought to his father temple: a place where he should be safe? And what about the jar,did the giants put him in there while he was conscious and trying to fight,or he was knocked out before he could get out of Tartarus? If he was knocked out,how did he felt we he understood he was trapped in a jar under the colosseum–that he was in Italy? How did he felt while watching Percy,Jason and Piper coming to his aid? Was he guilty since they were getting hurt for him? Was he relieved since someone cared enough to safe him? Was he feeling useless since he couldn't do anything to help them and was too weak to even move? What did he felt when he met Hazel,after so long,without knowing if she was still alive? What did he feel as the ship descended into Arachne's cave,and noticed another opening to Tartarus? Was he panicking inside? Was he having a silent trauma-respons? Did he wanted to get the farthest away possible with it? Did he wanted to take everyone else with him and shadow travel away because he couldn't do that again? And when Annabeth and Percy got pulled over the edge? And when he tried to get them out,putting himself on the edge of the same place he just got out again? What was he feeling? And when he watched them feel? Was he having flashback of his jump? Was he screaming in dispears? Was he dissociating because the trauma is too much? Was he feeling guilty because he couldn't do anything to help them? Did he had nightmares about their fall?

There is so much we don't know about,and it has so much potential to explore and ground to cover. You can probably write a whole separate book about it,of more than 200 pages (if someone will write or wrote a ff,or know about a good one on this topic,please,share it in the comments,I'm desperate for Nico's first travel in Tartarus ff).

Nico is the first ever survivor of Tartarus. He is the first: before him no one ever made it,and Percy and Annabeth made it out of it thanks to Bob's help. And Bob helped only because Nico was a friend to him,and talked about Percy. And the fact that we still don't know nothing about his travel is truly a crime.

There are so many dark topic you could talk about,especially because Nico travel was more dangerous than Percy and Annabeth. In HoH everyone was going to the Doors because they wanted to go out and take part in the final battle,so nobody was actively trying to hunt them down expect Polybotes and Tartarus (idk about him). But for Nico,that went there when the Doors were freshly opened? And Gaia probably knew he was coming and her trap was probably pre-organized only for him? Everyone was either hunting him down,or was waiting for the right time to jump at him. Akhlys encounter was a straight up nightmare,the one when you throw up after waking up. Nico probably felt more devasted when Misery herself told him how she couldn't make him more miserable. You can't tell me Tartarus wasn't watching him,since Nico was the first demigod in ages to venture in his body. He was probably keeping a close eye on him and either didn't interfer because he didn't care,or because he was aware of Gaia's plans. And I need more of Nyx interacting with Nico,because her obsession waa probably born from his first travel. Maybe they didn't met,but if Akhlys loved his misery so much,who say she wouldn't talk about him with other primordials? The dark topics and trauma here are>>>>>

“This is where you live?”

Jason drops the duffle bag on the counter, “Yeah. It’s no manor, kid. I told you.”

He’s not self conscious. He’s not. This apartment is fuckin’ nice ok? He spent a lot of money on decor and proper kitchenware and furniture and shit.

But Jason also knows that, objectively speaking, it doesn’t hold a candle to Wayne manor and its fifty-something bedrooms. That place is basically its own country.

Bruce nods.

“I like it,” he says solemnly, walking over towards the window to peek through the blinds. The view from up here isn’t exactly panorama level but the building is one of the tallest in Crime Alley and Jason’s apartment is on the top floor, so it does provide a pretty good view of a good portion of the Alley. “It doesn’t feel as empty.”

Jason pauses where he’s resetting the traps and alarms by the door, glancing over his shoulder to where Bruce is starting to tentatively explore the living space and is struck by how violently out of place the boy looks with his rigid posture and elegantly curved eyebrows. Even the plain hoodie, faded hand-me-down jeans and ridiculous wool cap aren’t enough to hide how utterly not Crime Alley born-and-bred he is. Everything about Bruce is basically screaming rich-Bristol-trust-fund-kid.

Which, yeah. Checks out.

Jason clears his throat and clicks the security on, waiting for the small light at the side to switch from green to red.

“Your room’s the one down the hall to the left. Right one is mine. Door at the end of the hall is the bathroom.”

Bruce hikes his backpack up higher on his shoulder, eyes eerily vacant as always, but Jason wants to think that there’s a sliver of curiosity behind that steely gaze anyways as he inclines his head and makes his way down the hall.

As soon as the kid vanishes around the corner Jason allows himself a moment to exhale and run a hand down his face tiredly.

Jesus fucking Christ.

What was he thinking.

How the fuck is he supposed to raise a tiny Bruce Wayne with his older furry counterpart running around Gotham at night hunting criminals? Criminals like Jason?

Nothing. He was thinking nothing. And it’s about to bite him in the ass.

No way can he build a criminal empire and take over the drugs and weapons trade with a traumatized nine year old dependent on him.

Depressing news. I wake up today to not find the blog. I expected it to happen some time, but not this soon. If it got DMCA-ed, I'm supposed to receive a notice of the claims but I did not. So I plan to reach out to Tumblr Support soon regarding this.

Unfortunately, I didn't back up the blog. Not the contents nor the codes. I feel devastated. I regret not backing it up. I almost couldn't find the energy to claim it back. If we're not getting it back, honestly, I don't think I will be motivated enough to re-create it again. I'd say it was a good run and all that. But before that, I will try to get it back for you guys. And again, if not, I think the arcanistsanctum blog will deviate from archiving official media, especially if the reasons of the shutdown is DMCA or Copyright Infringement. I read the Reverse:1999 terms before, and all I can say is that they have ambiguous terms there, especially relating to copyright. Basically, they mentioned they reserve the right to take down content related to Reverse:1999 without explanation and warning. That may be the case here. I won't press too hard on that matter. It is their IP, after all. It is what it is.

if viktor had any kind of consistent internal logic he would have just been going to alternate timelines assassinating himself. what was the fucking point of ruining jayce's life and maiming him and causing multiple apocalypses across several timelines? if he was always gonna kill himself anyways?

if the only happy ending was viktor ending up dead and he knew it, why did he feel the need to take jayce out with him? if he actually loved jayce, wouldn't he want him to live and achieve his dreams and help the cities in a way that viktor fully realized that he was not capable of doing?

but yeah, sure, the disabled guy being reduced to a useless manipulative little whelp who needs to be saved by the big strong able-bodied hero is sooo romantic.

One of the differences between the first and second war in the books are the deaths.

PJO had so much campers dropping dead from TTC to TLO,and some of them even changed side to join Luke. So,when they were actively fighting the war,they were barely more than 80 demigods for CHB,and in those 80 people some of them died. I think at the end of TLO only 40 campers survived (I probably did the math wrong here since I don't remember well their final number). But regardless of the wrong math or not,that war had a lot of losses,both with the campers that stayed at CHB,and those that went with Luke.

That was a massacre between friends,families and values so the emotional damage was also extremely heavy on them. In BotL and TLO siblings had to off each other because they become each other enemies. Friends where trying to kill other friends because it was Luke's order and they were threatening their lives. The whole camp itself lost its integrity during PJO and the Ares Cabin come to their sense because of Silena. A lot of people,friends and siblings died,and most of them were probably still unclaimed by their own parents. They would never know that some of their victims were their own siblings.

Other than the high dead count,their emotions were a big play in this too. Those people are all traumatized by it and it's so strange that other than the aftermath in TLO and a bit of words in TLH,we never saw the full damage of it.

In comparison the war against Gaia is....that's not even a war?? Gaia herself is treated more of a danger when she is in the shadows plotting,still partly sleeping,than when she actually wake up. The main focus here should be the battle against the Giants and her,but we also have the "war" between romans and greeks. The thing is that is not a war since nothing really happens in it and they were more concerned about killing the monsters Octavian's got,instead of ending each other.

The dead count here doesn't even exist. Untill the end of SoN every demigod that died come back to life,and even after Frank,Hazel and Percy freed Thanatos nothing changed: the people that were killed stayed alive (yes,I'm referring to Gwen). But other than that there weren't deaths. There wasn't the weight of the sacrifice that you need to do for winning something,like in PJO. And the way they killed Gaia also didn't had repercussions on them. I was waiting for Piper to loose her voice or powers forever since she put a sleep the Earth herself. That never happened. Hazel had to die to "kill" Alcyoneus the first time,but in SoN? Nothing happened. Frank had to burn his life to get Thanatos out of his chains,but then? Nothing happened. Leo killed himself only to come back alive so his death is meaningless,and the campers found out about it a couple of weeks later so they never grieved much. Percy knew Gaia was going to choose him so he gambled his life fully knowing he was going to win either way.

Where is the real weight? Where is the real anxiety of not knowing if they're going to make it or not? Where are the real sacrifices? Where is the emotional conflict? The only people that died for real were Bryce and Octavian (we thanks Nico for that) but they were asshole so they don't really count. Bob? Damasen? Probably alive or reforming,but knowing that in TSATS they went to Tartarus for Bob,I think he is still alive at least. Gwen? Alive and well,living in New Rome. That's it. Some people almost died or got close to it (read: the main characters) but at the end of the day everything went fine.

The emotional scars are there and it's normal to have them after having so many near-death experience during HoO,but those technically aren't from the conflict itself,just from their quest like every other demigod. We felt the anxiety for them but nothing ever happened because the main characters always survive. The problem start when they become side characters for someone else story,so they can get killed easily since theirs already ended (read: Jason).

Honestly,it wasn't even a war since they spent 300 pages traveling. When I read the book I was pretty anxious when,even after half of it,they were all still traveling. I thought the "war" was going to get half of BoO but I believed it too much,since they ended everything in just 4 chapters from Jason and Nico PoVs. It was underwhelming. And it's as if the author wanted to publicize the message: "it's not the end that matters but the journey" with how much time they spent to actually get to places they needed to be,instead of fighting.

Having no one truly make a sacrifice and truly challenge their own fate,and taking away from the losses we already had,was something that really lowered the bar for this war. And the problem is that the war against Gaia should had been more demanding from the one against Kronos. She treated to destroy everyone and everything once she woke up in her true form,while Kronos was in Luke's body (with him trying to battle him at the end mind you) trying to take over the Empire State Building. Realistically who is more dangerous? And who also is the one that got put to sleep with the voice of a flying girl and a boy blowing himself up? Yeah.

HoO final conflicts have a lot of issues between the giants in Athens,Gaia at CHB and Octavian trying to start a war in the meantime. Maybe it's too much to handle for Riordan. Maybe he shouldn't had put the conflict between the camps since it got more spotlight than Gaia herself,the real problem and final boss of this serie. If done right,and with more time,it could have been something extremely good,but Riordan spent most of the time making the characters travel instead of actually doing the things they needed to do,so at the end he never had enough time to do anything. And taking away the weight and the losses of the war was another thing that made it worse.

On the side, I'm working on another story right now, which I'm not going to publish until all the chapters are finished. It's quite a bit shorter than anything else I've written as a result, obviously, but it really doesn't need to be that long.

Anyway, I don't know when it'll come out, because I really wanna structure it carefully, but it's a Time Travel AU, lol.

Never thought I'd write one of those, but this idea has a bit of a chokehold on me, and it'll be good practice for the more concise writing I wanna do with Fractures from now on, too.
